Work Opportunity Tax Credit Update

Work Opportunity Tax Credit Update

The WOTC program has been in hiatus since the end of 2014, leaving many companies wondering what will happen to their credits and should they continue to screen for WOTC. HIREtech’s Government Affairs Director Laura Murphy is on the Nation Employment Operations Group (NEOG) and HIREtech is a proud member of the National Employment Operations Network (NEON). Our involvement in this powerful organization gives us an inside peek at what is going on in Washington as it pertains to the WOTC program. According to the weekly legislative update from Washington, “The Extender Coalition will start to do Hill visits in October. They will be pushing for a three-year extension (through 2017), arguing that doing so will give Congress more time to deal with international or comprehensive tax reform. In the end, the coalition will take what it can get, but they are pushing for at least three years for everyone.” We are optimistic that the bill will be extended based upon previous years. We are dedicated to following the bill closely and will keep all clients informed as changes occur.
